WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Somos PAC, a Latina-led organization focused on persuading and mobilizing Latino voters in key battleground states, including Nevada, Arizona and Michigan, celebrates the historic election of candidates who successfully campaigned on fighting to lower prices and creating more economic opportunities for working people, including hardworking Latinos, to build a better life for themselves and their families.

“Hardworking Latinos delivered for Democrats during this historic midterm election because Democrats continue to deliver for us,” said Melissa Morales, Founder and President of Somos PAC. “Despite a challenging economic and political environment, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Sen. Mark Kelly and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer made fighting on the side of working people central to their campaigns and voters, especially Latinos, responded accordingly. When times are tough, working people want leaders who care and will provide them with more opportunities, definitely not less. We are very proud of the incredible work we have been able to do, among others, to re-elect the first and only Latina to the U.S. Senate and help deliver control of the Senate to Democrats who will fight for people like us. We believe in the power of Latinos and will continue to engage, invest in and empower our community for years to come.”

Latino voters across the country proved decisive for Democrats during this historic midterm election. According to the National Midterm Voter Exit Poll, the national Latino vote for Congress is essentially unchanged from the 2020 Presidential election that saw Democrats win control of the White House and Congress. Latinos still favor Democrats by a 2:1 margin at 64 to 33. The 2022 midterm election also ushered in the largest number of Latino Democrats to Congress.

Somos PAC, which ran programs that focused on educating Latino voters about the midterm elections, informing them about where candidates stand on the issues that matter and ensuring that they vote, spent a total of $12.5 million on voter outreach programs this election cycle. The programs included robust investments in door-to-door canvassing, community organizing, a bilingual mail program that reached hundreds of thousands of households and paid Spanish and English-language TV, radio and digital outreach.

Additionally, its sister organization, Somos Votantes, ran active non-partisan programs in states educating voters about when, where and how to vote, hearing from Latino voters about what policies would make the biggest difference in their lives and advocating for various ballot measures including increasing the minimum wage. Somos Votantes spent $11 million on Latino voter communication efforts. And in Arizona, Somos Votantes, spent an additional $1 million to advocate for candidates that fight for working people.

In total, both groups made over 1.7 million attempts at the doors and conducted tens of thousands of one-to-one conversations with voters.

Somos PAC plans to invest over $2 million in the Georgia Senate run-off election, pledging to contact tens of thousands of hardworking Latino voters through a door-to-door canvassing program, paid bilingual mail program and paid Spanish and English-language radio and digital outreach.
